Frequently Asked Questions

What size cold plunge do I need?
For full-body immersion, aim for at least 72 inches in length and 24 inches in width. Capacity of 80-150 gallons works for most adults. Taller users (over 6'2") should consider 84"+ models. If you only want to plunge your legs or upper body, smaller units like the Ice Barrel 400 (105 gal) or Recovery Chiller Pro with a stock tank work fine.
Is a 1 HP or 1.5 HP chiller better?
Larger chillers cool faster and maintain temperature more consistently in warm climates. A 1 HP chiller is sufficient for tubs under 100 gallons in moderate climates. For 120+ gallon tubs or hot regions, 1.25-1.5 HP provides better performance. The tradeoff is higher upfront cost and slightly more noise—though most units stay under 50 dB.
Do I need ozone purification?
Ozone purification isn't required but significantly reduces how often you need to change water. It kills bacteria and breaks down organic matter, keeping water cleaner between filter changes. If you plunge daily or share the tub, ozone is worth the upgrade. For occasional use, standard filtration with more frequent water changes works fine.
